About Me

An introduction

My name is Stephan Broecker and like so many others I am a photography enthusiast. At the moment it really is just a hobby, but one that I am quite passionate about.

I have always thought about having my own web page to bring my work out into the world – and now I am doing just that.  I have chosen WordPress as I was quite impressed especially with the gallery features – which will also extract and show key Exif data of the images.

I had may first SLR camera when I was twelve – and that was back in about 1980…  An Olympus OM10.  My dad had an OM2 and I was allowed to also use his various lenses!  Some years later I switched to a Nikon F601 and really loved the handling.  Then had a bit of a break from photography while the switch to digital swept the world of photography (at least for the majority of us)… but eventually fell in love with it again.  I have for now stuck with the DX format (after initially buying a Nikon D90 when it was still fairly new to the market) to not have to also buy new lenses with my upgrade to a Nikon D7200.

My current gear

  • Camera: Nikon D7200
  • Lenses: Nikkor 12-24mm F/4, Nikkor 18-200mm F/3.5-5.6 VR, Nikkor 35mm F/1.8G, and also a Sigma 120-400mm F/4.5-5.6
  • I use Formatt Hitech 100mm filters (various graduated ND filters, firecrest ND filters and usually a polarizer)
  • In my post-processing workflow I use Adobe software (Lightroom and Photoshop), the brilliant Topazlabs tools/plugins (mainly DeNoise AI, Adjust AI and ReMask AI – but also Sharpen AI for wildlife photos) as well as Photomatix Pro for HDR photography.
  • For those occasions where I can’t or don’t want to carry around too much gear, I have the brilliant Sony RX100 mk2 for which I also have a polariser and an ND filter.
  • Last, but really not least, I have an iPhone as my ‚always-on-me’ camera. And I do have to say the camera as well as the built-in editing tools are phenomenal!
