As I enjoy HDR photography, I usually have a great basis for a Black and White conversion. But also long exposure seascape photographs are quite suitable. Key is to have sufficient detail, strong highlight and shadow areas so that you bring out more of the contrast.
Black and White conversions do not require a significant of post processing – or even specialized software. The picture of High Level Bridge in Newcastle is just a snapshot taken with my phone and converted to black & white using only the built-in image editing features.
